What Is Vickers Hardness Test?

Vickers Hardness Test

The Vickers Hardness Test is a precise method used to measure the hardness of steel by pressing a diamond-shaped indenter into the surface under a specific load. Unlike other hardness tests, the Vickers method uses a very small indenter and load range, making it ideal for testing thin materials, small parts, or surface-hardened layers. The size of indentation is measured under a microscope, and the Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) is calculated.
