Alloy elements are chemical elements that are intentionally added to steel during its production to enhance or modify its properties. These elements, such as carbon, chromium, nickel, manganese, molybdenum, and vanadium, influence characteristics like strength, hardness, ductility, corrosion resistance, and toughness. The type and number of alloying elements used depend on the desired performance of the final steel product. During steel processing, the precise control of alloying additions affects the microstructure and mechanical properties.
