Tension leveling stretches sheet steel in coil form by pulling it beyond its yield point, top to bottom and edge to edge. The material should then be perfectly flat and relatively free of internal stresses. Tension leveling is desirable in scenarios in which flatness and shape are an integral component in the end use of the material.
