STEEL PICKLING
Uses the Latest Technology and Steel Strip Conditioning to
Remove Steel Surface Oxides

Pickling is a process used to remove the oxide scale that forms on the coil surface during steelmaking. The “pickle bath” that the coil runs through is a diluted solution of inorganic acid, usually hydrochloric. This oxide scale must be removed because it is an abrasive that decreases formability and die life in drawing applications and also prevents adherence of metallic coatings and paint to the steel surface.

Worthington Steel provides the latest push-pull pickling technology and strip conditioning process available in the steel processing industry today. Features of the process line are designed specifically to yield steel strip with excellent surface quality and optimum metallurgical conditioning.
