Flexospan, a manufacturer of metal roofing and siding panels, structural purlin products and pre-engineered industrial metal buildings, offers flexible and custom design-to-delivery services. Worthington Steel provides the wide range of capabilities and products Flexospan needs to help their customers be competitive.
When quoting projects, Flexospan’s customers look to them to recommend products that provide a competitive advantage over other bidders. We recommended our PrimaCoat product as a cost-efficient alternative to the pre-paint product Flexospan typically used. Since PrimaCoat eliminates most pre- and post-paint operations and die washing, it requires less handling and cleaning, streamlining Flexospan’s production process and translating directly into cost savings they could pass on to their customer.
PrimaCoat’s corrosion-resistant properties and field-ready appearance make it an excellent choice for building products. Flexospan’s structural purlins are visible from the inside of the building, making appearance as important as product performance. PrimaCoat eliminates the need for additional painting – it is an excellent pre-paint primer or it can be tinted and used as the finish coat.
In addition to innovative materials like PrimaCoat, Worthington Steel frequently works with customers to recommend other solutions that improve operational efficiency. The location of Flexospan’s customers provided an opportunity for significant logistics cost savings. We developed a logistics solution for Flexospan that saved freight costs to their current customers and helped them to gain new business in those geographic areas. The solution routed trucks differently to utilize inbound freight costs and back haul from Worthington Steel’s facility, saving Flexospan $700 per truckload in freight.
