HOT ROLLED SHEET

Hot rolled sheets are those that are reduced to a required thickness* on the hot strip mill with temperatures at which scale is formed and, therefore, carry hot-mill oxide on the surface. The resulting properties of the hot roll are influenced by the chemistry of the product and the hot strip mill's thermal process parameters.

Hot roll products are typically not used on surface critical applications, as minor surface imperfections may be expected. Some degree of property variation can also be expected

throughout a hot roll coil, based on thermal processing conditions. *Hot rolled sheet includes flat rolled steel up to 0.230” thick.
